overland your experience exploring africa in close-up your team Behind every great Overland Adventure is a great Overland crew. Their enthusiasm, versatility and knowledge of local culture is second to none. On your journey you'll be joined by a leader and driver, both of whom are passionate about Overlanding. Our crew members have all been chosen for their local knowledge, leadership skills and love for all things African. Sometimes you'll have the added bonus of being accompanied by a cook or campmaster, giving you an extra hand at meal-time. Overlanding across Africa's vast and varied landscapes you'll really become a part of this amazing continent, experiencing the sights, sounds and smells first-hand. On our Overland journeys you are the crew! You'll load and unload the vehicles, set up camp, get water, cook, wash up and even shop for food. Overlanding is an exciting hands-on way to get off the beaten track and make the journey as much a part of the adventure as the destination. You'll experience life in isolated communities, camp under starry African skies and see the Big Five: buffaloes, rhinos, leopards, elephants and lions. Then, after a day on safari or seeing the sights, it's back to camp, ready to set up home for the night. And, like all great adventures, the more you put in, the more you'll get out! your accommodation Sometimes we camp at official campsites and make use of the facilities, and other times you'll be pitching your tent in the wild, experiencing the beauty of remote Africa up close. Our tents are slightly larger than the average two-man tent and come with mosquito nets, ground sheets and mattresses. All you need to bring is your sleeping bag and a travel pillow. For those travelling solo, you'll be paired up to share with someone of the same gender. Facilities can differ and on occasion you might even have access to a pool, to cool down from the heat of the day. Other times facilities are basic or non-existent, so you'll need to be ready to rough it for a bit. But the true beauty of this style of travel is that you'll fall asleep to the sounds of the African wildlife! your vehicle From our classic safari vehicles to Africa's newest fleet of Overland trucks, our purpose-built vehicles have been designed for tough African conditions and plenty of game viewing. The vehicles all come with seatbelts and are built to be self-sufficient. Everything you need for your adventure is included, right down to the folding chairs and tables for your campsite! But it's not just the everyday practicalities that we've thought about. Our Overland vehicles are safe, reliable and ready for any eventuality. Our dedicated staff make sure the vehicles are well maintained and regularly serviced, ready for travelling through the wildest of African conditions. your group You'll be joined by a group of like-minded travellers from all over the world, ready to explore the real Africa. With a maximum group size of 16 to 21 people, travelling this way is a bit like travelling with a group of friends - you just haven't met them yet.
