Stewart Island
Lying off the south eastern corner of New Zealand, Stewart Island is the country's third largest island and the most southerly land mass before you reach Antarctica. Access is by air from Invercargill or by ferry from Bluff, Stewart Island offers clean crisp air, breathtaking scenery and abundant wildlife and birdlife. A large portion of the island has been designated a national park, just the place for enjoying the great outdoors.

Day 1: Arrive Invercargill After arriving in Invercargill, make your way to your chosen accommodation for an overnight stay. The remainder of your day is free to relax and explore. Standard: Ascot Park Hotel Superior: Kelvin Hotel Day 2: Ferry to Stewart Island This morning, make your way to nearby Bluff to catch the ferry across to the tranquil shores of Stewart Island, New Zealand's third-largest island. You will be met as you depart the ferry and transferred to your chosen accommodation in the small, sedate town of Oban, set attractively on the shores of beautiful Half Moon Bay. Rakiura National Park occupies nearly 85% of Stewart Island and Oban is the only sizeable settlement, which
makes Stewart Island a great location for spotting all manner of wildlife, especially birds and particularly the elusive kiwi. This afternoon, you'll enjoy a leisurely two hour introductory tour highlighting the island's history, scenery and places of interest as well as providing some fantastic photo opportunities.
